The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s longest running franchises of all time, and the latest of this franchise the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. At this years EB Games Expo held in Sydney, we managed to get some hands-on time with the game thanks to Nintendo. If you haven’t heard much about Breath of the Wild, it’s essentially the Zelda game that is going back to the roots of the franchise, which is exploration and building that sense of wonder in a new world. But does it successfully do that? Our gameplay demo, where we actually got to play the game, really helped us understand how it is that Nintendo will successfully build a … Continue reading
I have been following Horizon Zero Dawn for quite some time. I mean, it is going to be Guerrilla Games first IP since Killzone and it is going to be an action RPG set on Earth after an apocalyptic event. The game stars Aloy, a hunter who hunts machines, which are the prominent species on Earth. At this year’s EB Games Expo, Horizon Zero Dawn was the one of the centrepieces of the PlayStation Booth. After trying out the game, I’m becoming more and more hopeful this game is going to be excellent. The experience started with a demonstration of various gameplay mechanics available in the demo. The demo itself was a rehash of the E3 demo shown earlier in … Continue reading
At SMASH! this year, there was a screening of the upcoming Kingsglaive Final Fantasy XV film. The screening showcased 15 minutes of the film, which encompassed some pretty interesting moments.I’m not too sure if this was just the opening sequence, or a bunch of random points. The opening sequences showcased a dramatic opening battle between some evil looking dudes,a young Noctis and some blonde looking girl in a forest. It was very dramatic and had fire effects. After, it soon becomes 12 years later and there is an even bigger battle involving some cool looking dudes, monsters and what appears to be an Assassin’s Creed character. For some reason they are trying to breach a wall and lots of missiles … Continue reading
Tree of Savior is the Second Coming of Ragnarok – International Closed Beta Test First Week Impressions
Tree of Savior is being touted as the spiritual successor to Ragnarok Online, one of the most popular Korean MMORPGs to hit the market. The game is developed by IMC, with development being headed by Kim Hakkyu, the original creator of Ragnarok Online. It features something like 80 classes to choose from, and has a jointed map approach to gameplay, similar to that found in Ragnarok. We managed to grab a closed beta test key and check out the game. For an MMORPG, some players might find the character creation a little more simpler than they’re used to. As Tree of Savior is a pseudo-sprite based game, there isn’t really much opportunity for really chiseling out an intricate model of … Continue reading
This year at Nintendo’s EB Games Expo booth, the upcoming cooperative The Legend of Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, was playable. The game itself is centered around three players controlling a different coloured Link character in a team of three. This team must work together to solve the puzzles of a dungeon and ultimately move forward and defeat the boss with the power of teamwork. The build we played was light on story, so we’re not entirely sure what the game is about, but it’s a pretty interesting play. For our playthrough, it was myself and Gaming Spud hands-on with two out of three 3DS devices with the third being controlled by a random. The level … Continue reading
Project Phoenix is the upcoming isometric tactical role-playing game from Hiroaki Yura and his team at Creative Intelligence Arts. The title is being developed by an international team of gaming veterans for a variety of platforms, including the PC, Playstation 4, Playstation Vita, Android and iOS systems. The story looks like it involves a main character and his hatred of Orcs, and a band of characters that are joining him on hjis quest for their own reasons. At the Sydney Manga and Anime Show!, or SMASH!, this year, we managed to get some hands-on time with the title and Hiroaki Yura, the developer. In our playthrough of the game, we weren’t really shown anything of the games actual storyline, so … Continue reading
Hacknet is the Unix network navigation simulator by the Australian developer Team Fractal Alligator and is being released by Surprise Attack Games. The objective of Hacknet is pretty simple, you must hack computers to complete mission objectives as set out by a fellow hacker in order to advance. The title employs a basic, but cool interface, and an amazing soundtrack to really push the feeling of Hacknet forward. We’re really having a lot of fun with it. As someone that’s been trained in Network Security and was in IT before starting on this site, seeing Hacknet posted on the internet was pretty interesting. I’ve seen a few games about hacking pop-up, but never a retail game based on the concept. … Continue reading
